DHANKUTA, OCTOBER 17

The electoral battle in Dhankuta will be worth watching where former minister Rakam Chemjong will take on his former personal assistant Arjun Rai and others in the upcoming November 20 Provincial Election.

Chemjong, who is a central executive member of Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal, had served as Peace and Reconstruction Minister, representing CPN-UML 13 years ago. Arjun Rai, who was also a UML district level leader back then, was Chemjong's personal assistant.

While Chemjong was UML's central member then, Rai was UML Dhankuta district leader and Dhankuta-Kathmandu Samparka Manch chairperson. Chemjong and Rai are contesting against each other in the upcoming provincial election in Dhankuta Provincial Constituency-A.

While Chemjong represents JSP-N in this election, Rai, now a CPN (Unified Socialist) leader, is contesting on behalf of the ruling coalition.

It is important to note that CPN-UML, despite having electoral alliance with JSP-N elsewhere, has fielded its own candidate in the Provincial Assembly election in Dhankuta Constituency-A. UML's Niran Rai is contesting against the two candidates. He is UML Dhankuta district secretary and former Provincial Assembly member.
