Excess milk to be produced as powder milk, says CM Rai
BIRATNAGAR: Chief Minister of Province 1 Sherdhan Rai said liquid milk that is turning into waste every day through milk holiday would be managed as power milk. At least 100,000 litres of milk from the province go to waste on a daily basis through milk holiday, according to available data.
Inaugurating the Office of Livestock and Fishery Development Directorate under the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives in Biratnagar, CM Rai informed that the government was holding consultations with experts on creating job opportunities by developing agriculture as a modern commercial industry.
He said the provincial government would provide technical skills required of farmers in rearing livestock and exporting its products to the international market, referring to the province having enough potential for pig rearing and identifying the country’s neighbouring cities of India such as Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and Darjeeling and Bhutan as its potential markets.
Likewise, Minister for Social Development Jiban Ghimire stressed the need to equip youths with modern technical skills to attract them towards agriculture.
The newly established office provides agricultural technical assistance to farmers and is tasked with carrying out frequent monitoring and inspection in the total 14 districts within the province to increase production from fisheries and livestock.
