KATHMANDU, AUGUST 30
The family of Mamta Kafle Bhatt, the Nepali-American nurse who has been missing for a month, has arrived in the USA from Nepal to take care of the couple's child.
According to the family's immigration lawyer, Bandita Sharma-Dahal, Mamta's mother and brother have been reunited with her daughter after their expedited arrival in the USA on Tuesday morning.
Sharma-Dahal stated that the family is dealing with unimaginable pain and will need time to adjust. She requested privacy from the community and the media, adding that they are currently in an undisclosed location with the baby and will speak publicly when they feel comfortable.
Before the family's arrival, the baby was in the care of one of Mamta's close friends, Sharma-Dahal added.
Mamta Kafle Bhatt, 28, a pediatric nurse at UVA Prince William Medical Center in Manassas, was last seen on July 27. Her husband, Naresh Bhatt, 37, a U.S. Army veteran, was arrested last Thursday on suspicion of concealing a dead body, raising further concerns about her fate.
