Family refuses to receive murdered girl’s body in Pokhara
Pokhara, August 26
The family of 13-year-old girl Pushpa KC, who was found dead two days ago, has refused to accept her body in Pokhara.
The family refused to receive the body despite frequent requests from the police, stating that they would not receive the body until the culprit(s) was identified.
KC from Lamachaur of Pokhara Metropolitan City was found dead on the banks of the Seti River below the cliff of Sailaja Park at Fapartaro.
After post-mortem, the body was kept at Western Regional Hospital. Though doctors made the post-mortem report public last evening, family members refused to receive the body showing dissatisfaction over the report. KC’s uncle Dhruba KC said Pushpa was murdered somewhere else and her body was dumped on the river banks.
DSP Rabindra Gurung pledged that police would leave no stone unturned to bring out the facts. A probe team led by DSP Nabin Karki has launched investigation into the incident, said DSP Gurung. Police have interrogated as many as 12 persons till now.
A meeting of locals from Lamachaur today morning formed a seven-member assistance committee to aid the police team in the investigation. Committee member Nabaraj Thapa said they would assist police investigation to bring out the truth.
Issuing a press statement today, various political parties, student organisations and associations have demanded that the guilty be brought to book and stern action taken against them.
Pushpa was a sixth grader at Bindhyabasini Secondary School. She had gone out of contact after she got down from the school bus.
