Federal Alliance announces fresh protest programmes

KATHMANDU: After announcing that it withdrew the support extended to the government, the Federal Alliance on Thursday announced fresh protest programmes.

A meeting held at the Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal office in Tinkune decided to start the protest programmes from tomorrow.

According to a press statement issued today, the Front would organise various programmes including non-cooperation demonstrations and public hearing to discuss how the government's decision to put the local polls on May 14 was a wrong decision.

According to Om Gurung, spokesperson of the agitating bloc, the party would also hold a condolence assembly in the district headquarters of all districts and candlelight vigil at Maitighar Mandala on Sunday, in memory of five persons killed in police firing in Saptari district last week .

The FA would also burn the report of Local Bodies Restructuring Commission, which does not contain provisions on autonomous, protected and special regions, he added.

Similarly, the alliance has also scheduled demonstration programmes in various cities outside the Valley from March 31 to April 3.
