Germany has pledged €37.6 million in technical and financial assistance to Nepal over the next two years, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening development cooperation with the country.

The assistance was announced during bilateral talks on Nepal-Germany development cooperation held in Kathmandu on Tuesday.

According to the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Nepal, both countries agreed to prioritise cooperation in energy, sustainable economic development and the health sector.

The Nepali delegation was led by Dhaniram Sharma, head of the International Economic Assistance Coordination Division at the Ministry of Finance, while the German side was headed by Barbara Schäfer, head of the South Asia Division at Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The assistance will be utilised to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency, strengthen electricity distribution systems, support green and resilient agriculture, improve revenue administration, develop quality infrastructure, advance gender equality and expand financial access and sustainable economic opportunities.
