KIMATHANKA, NOVEMBER 20

Minister of Federal Affairs and General Administration Rajendra Shrestha said the government would introduce the Federal Civil Service Act through ordinance.

At a press meet organised by Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal in Sankhuwasabha district headquarters, Khandbari, today, Minister Shrestha said the bill related to civil service had long been stalled in the Parliament due to political wrangling despite endorsement from the Business Advisory Committee. Though several attempts were made to introduce the Act after parliamentary deliberations, it had not materialised due to political mudslinging, he added. "Provinces and local levels have faced big trouble due to shortage of employees for restructuring of the ministry".

Due to lack of formulation of the law, there emerged lack of 40 per cent employees in the administrative sector and 60 per cent in technical sector, the minister said. He expressed confidence that the deadlock that had surfaced in mobilisation of employees would be averted with the introduction of the ordinance.

On a different note, Minister Shrestha said the ruling coalition would continue to exist till next elections.
