Feedback collection drive sees number of clashes in Saptari
RAJBIRAJ: Clashes erupted between Madhes-based political party cadres and police in Saptari district headquarters Rajbiraj and around during feedback collection programmes on the preliminary draft of new constitution on Monday.
More than one dozen protestors were injured in the incidents.
While a programme was underway, cadres of the Federal Social Forum-Nepal, Sadbhawan Party and Tarai Madhes Democratic Party among others entered the programme venue and torched copies of the draft of new constitution.
The programme was organised in the District Development Committee (DDC) hall in Rajbiraj, where lawmakers Umesh Kumar Yadav, Ranju Thakur, Sakal Dev Sutihar and Mithila Chaudhary were present for the feedback collection.
Locals from Constituency-3 of the district had gathered at the DDC for feedback.
Meanwhile, FSF-N district Chairman Birendra Majhi among others sustained injuries in the clash erupted between the agitators and police at Bhardaha Chok in Constituency-2.
Similarly, one police staffer was also injured in the incident, informed locals.
After the protest, agitators have obstructed the East-West Highway at Bhardaha Chok.
