POKHARA, SEPTEMBER 19

Chairman of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal has said his party will join the government this week.

Addressing a seminar and cadres' meet organised by the party's Kaski district committee in Pokhara today, Nepal said the CPN (US) would select leaders to join the federal cabinet.

Nepal said the current five-party coalition would be maintained till the upcoming election. "The erstwhile government did not properly address people's woes. The current coalition government should not repeat the past mistakes. We should serve the people by further strengthening the coalition."

Urging party cadres not to think about rejoining the UML, Nepal said, "We are the true communist party.

Others have hurt the heart of the communist party. They weakened and defamed the communist party."

Nepal also said the CPN (US) wouldn't go for unification with the Maoist Centre and any other force, but would advance on its own strength. He said it was necessary to safeguard the achievements of people's movement including republicanism, federalism and secularism. Addressing party cadres, he said the Supreme Court's verdict on House of Representatives dissolution was historic and a milestone in Nepal's constitutionalism.

Gandaki Province Incharge of the CPN (US) Keshavlal Shrestha, Province Secretary Prataplal Shrestha, HoR member Krishna Kumar Shrestha, the party's Kaski district committee Chairman Dhanraj Acharya, Secretary Hom Bahadur Nepali, Under-secretary Purna Lama and other leaders expressed their opinions focusing on organisational development of the party.
