KHOTANG: A flash flood in the Sapsu River has swept away an under-construction bridge that connects Rajapani area with Batase, both in Khotang district.

The flooding on Wednesday swept away the bridge due to negligence on part of the contractor company which failed to complete its task despite extension of the deadline.

The bridge should have been completed by the first week of May, but due to the flooding it is unlikely to meet the extended deadline. The construction of the bridge started two years ago under an agreement of a total investment of Rs 20 million.

Punya Regmi, a local resident of Rajapani area blamed the contractor company for the delay in construction of the bridge. He accused the company of resuming work every year just after the monsoon season begins.
