FNJ meet opens today
Mahendranagar, December 20:
Journalists from across the nation are pouring in here to participate in the central general convention of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ), which is starting tomorrow.
Local journalists are busy welcoming their counterparts from all over Nepal. The town is wearing a festive look and welcome banners are fluttering at every corner. Most of the hotels here are packed with journalists. Gajadhar Bhatta, proprietor of Gangotri said: “We are on our toes, welcoming the journalists.”
Of 1,000 journalists expected for the meet, around 500 had already arrived by this evening. The arriving journalists also faced difficulty due to traffic obstruction on Mahendra Highway by the Nepal Transport Free Workers’ Union. The convention would be inaugurated by Speaker Subas Chandra Nembang.
Chakkajam called off in far west
Dhangadhi: The Far Western Transporters’ Regional Coordination Committee on Wednesday evening called off the chakkajam that was staged against the locals of Masuriya in Kailali.
“The chakkajam was called off keeping in mind the FNJ convention,” said Tek Raj Joshi, coordinator of the committee. The chakkajam, called this morning was staged against the locals of Masuriya, who had seized 12 vehicles affiliated to the committee. — HNS
