KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 20

Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN-Maoist Centre Pushpa Kamal Dahal said the forces that stood together during the 12-point agreement, Comprehensive Peace Accord, and the constitution-making process should stand together again.

The prime minister said this while addressing the sixth plenary meeting of the CPN-Maoist Centre Gandaki Provincial Committee at Lekhnath in Pokhara this afternoon.

PM Dahal said, "The country is in a difficult situation both politically and economically. There is a film of polluted air in politics and the economy is in dire straits. During the 12-point agreement, Comprehensive Peace Accord and constitution making process, all the powers stood together. Those forces need to stand together again. The country's problems should be solved through national consensus. This is also the essence of our desire that there should be national consensus on the president and vice-president."

He further said, "There are various options for national consensus. There is no such situation where big parties cannot stand together. In the main places of the state, one can proceed with understanding. Let's proceed from the point where there is agreement. However, we have a clear belief that big parties should stand together."

He directed the leaders to reach people's doorsteps for two months and bring their report. "Within two months, we will hold a full meeting of the Central Committee. Until then, let's go to the people and listen to them and take their suggestions. Let's meet martyred families, missing families, injured and disabled ones. Let us rebuild and transform the party based on their suggestions."

"Discussions are under way for the formation of the Socialist Front. We will come to a conclusion by the next Central Committee meeting. The front has the important responsibility of turning the existing problems in the country into opportunities. Homework is also being done to forge unity with some parties. We will come to a conclusion soon," he said.

PM Dahal also said the current government was working to change the condition of the people. He said, "The new government has done important things for the people. Serious initiatives have been taken to improve the economy, and improvements have also been made. An action plan has been made to streamline government service delivery. The results of our efforts will be visible soon.''
