KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 11

The four-day long Chhath festival has concluded today as devotees took their holy dip in nearby rivers or ponds and offered 'Usha Argha' (morning offering) to the rising sun.

On the final day, people gather around river banks early in the morning before sunrise until the sun rises.

After sunrise, morning argha is offered from the river.

Devotees offer special thekuwa rotis, bananas and other fruits to each other as Prasad, as well as to those who observe the festivities alongside the rivers and pray to Chhati Maiya.

They break their fast after returning from the river banks/ ponds.

Chhath is celebrated from Kartik Shukla Chaturthi to Saptami in the month of Kartik (October/Novemer) as per the lunar calendar.
