KATHMANDU, MAY 14

At least four Nepali female climbers successfully scaled the world's fifth highest mountain this season.

According to expedition organizers, four Sherpa women including Dabuti Sherpa (Miss Sherpa – 2018) from Gaurishankar, Dolakha, stood atop Mt Makalu on May 9.

Pasang Yangji Sherpa, Anima Sherpa and Kipa Lhamu Sherpa from Sankhuwasabha also successfully climbed the 8,463-metre mountain this season.

"This was the record-breaking climb by four Sherpa sisters in a single season," Dabuti, popularly known as Barista Dawa, told THT after returning from the mountain.

Dabuti, who scaled Mt Everest in 2018, said that she would climb more mountains in future to inspire other women to dream big. She has already climbed Annapurna I, Ama Dablam and other peaks.
