Free, fair polls: PM

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Wednesday said the government was committed to ensure free, far and impartial elections.

Addressing representatives of the Federation of Nepali Journalist in his official residence in Baluwatar, the PM said both phases of elections would be held on the stipulated dates, according to FNJ Chair Govinda Acharya. He said the FNJ team had drawn the PM’s attention to the need to ensure free and fair environment for journalists to collect news during elections.

“We also drew his attention to incidents of poll violence,” said Acharya, adding that the PM had saidthe government would do its best to control anti-poll activities.
