Fringe party leaders want threshold removed

KATHMANDU: Leaders of various fringe political parties met Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the latter’s residence in Baluwatar on Thursday.

During the meeting held this morning, the leaders of 25 fringe parties submitted a memorandum to the PM and accused the government of making different provisions for big and small political parties in the name of electoral threshold system.

They also drew the attention of Prime Minister to the bill to amend and integrate laws related to political parties-2016 and the bill to provide perks and facilities to office bearers of the Federal Parliament-2016.

Leaders were forced to draw the attention of PM Dahal to the matter as they were excluded from the discussions of the bill to amend and integrate laws related to political parties by the state management committee, said former minister and lawmaker Prem Bahadur Singh.

In response, the Prime Minister said that the government was serious over their demands and would take steps in this regard after holding consultations with other political parties, said PM's press advisor Govinda Acharya.
