Fund raised thru Deusi-bhailo to upgrade school
Jumla, October 27
Residents of Topla Tamti of Tatopani Rural Municipality-8, Jumla have raised Rs 2.5 million from Deusi-bhailo program this Tihar with an aim of operating plus two level classes at a local school.
The fund will be used to upgrade local Kalika Secondary School to a higher secondary education school, as per Man Bahadur Shahi from the locality.
The school is also getting support from District Education Office, Jumla, and the rural municipality to run plus two classes. Due to lack of a higher secondary school in the area, local students are forced to go elsewhere to pursue their higher secondary education.
Jeevan Shahi, who coordinated the Deusi-bhailo fundraising program, said they decided to take the initiative to ensure that children had an easy access to education. The school already has six teachers who are paid through local resources.
Shahi, who himself donated Rs 111,000, said he was elated with people donating money open-heartedly for a noble cause. Dhan Bahadur Shahi, another local, donated Rs 113,000 for the school.
The school principal’s Man Bahadur Shahi said people made donations both in cash and kind. Livestock and blankets donated by locals would be sold for cash, he added.
