Gates of Kulekhani dam to be opened to release excess water
HETAUDA: A meeting of the District Security Committee of Makawanpur has decided on releasing water from the gates of Kulekhani dam as water collection in Indrasarovar lake has reached its limit.
As Monday morning showed a water level of 1,526.03 metres in Kulekhani which has a threshold capacity of 1,530 metres, the authority alerted people around Bhimphedi, Indrasarovar, Bagmati Rural Municipality of Makawanpur, Hariharpurgadhi of Sindhuli, Bagmati Rural Municipality of Lalitpur, along with those living near water bodies in Sarlahi and Rautahat districts to remain safe.
The water level was increasing by two metres every hour.
The water will be released with the support from Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, along with technicians of Kulekhani.
