German lawmakers in Nepal to observe post-quake situation
KATHMANDU: The German Embassy in Kathmandu said that a delegation of German lawmakers on Wednesday visited Bhaktapur to start observe the post-earthquake situation of Nepal.
A statement released by the Embassy said the delegation of the Committee on Economic Cooperation and Development of the German Federal Parliament led by Dagmar Wöhrl inspected activities in the German Bhaktapur Development Project.
The delegation had arrived in Kathmandu on a five-day visit yesterday.
The team aims to see use of the Euro 30 million supported extended by Germany for recovery and rehabilitation of primary health facilities in some of the most quake-affected districts, the statement said.
The statement further said that the team would look upon the transition and recovery measures including shelter, skills training for reconstruction and livelihood activities being implemented in close cooperation with the Government of Nepal and local authorities in the districts of Nuwakot, Dhading and Rasuwa.
On the following days, the statement informed, the delegation would visit Nuwakot district and hold discussions with officials of the National Reconstruction Authority and the Ministry of Finance and human rights’ organisations.
The delegation includes lawmakers Stefan Rebmann, Members Heike Hänsel, Jürgen Klimke and Uwe Kekeritz.
