Government, Federal Madhesi Front hold talk
KATHMANDU: The government and the agitating Federal Madhesi Front held discussions at Singha Durbar on Tuesday.
During the talks, the Front demanded that the State should declare their cadres as martyrs, those who were killed during the Madhesh unrest and their families should be compensated.
Free treatment to those left injured during the agitation, withdrawal of cases filed against the agitators, release of those arrested during the agitation and lifting curfew orders in some Tarai-Madhes areas are others preconditions put forth by the Front before the government talk team.
On the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and talk team coordinator Kamal Thapa said the government was serious towards resolving problems in the Tarai-Madhes and it needed extra time to further analyse and assess the demands, according to Lok Dal Chair Kaushal Kumar Singh who was present in the meeting.
Representatives from Bahujan Samaj Party Nepal, Nepal Samajbadi Party, Nepal Sadbhawana Party and Loktantrik Party Nepal associated with the Front attended the meeting.
