Govt putting federalism at risk: NC leader Nidhi

Dhangadi, September 24

Nepali Congress Vice-president Bimalendra Nidhi accused the incumbent government of putting federalism and the constitution at risk with its wanton ways.

Addressing a party awareness meeting in Dhangadi, Kailali,  today, the NC leader stressed the need for his party to be vigilant for protection of the constitution, federalism and democracy.

“The KP Sharma Oli-led government is acting against the constitution and it’s mired in a number of scandals,” said the NC leader.

Nidhi said the party’s awareness campaign was needed to revive the party.

“Whatever major changes have occurred in the country, they have all happened under the leadership of the Congress party. This proves our worth,” said Nidhi.

Nepali Congress central member Ishwori Neupane accused President Bidhya Bhandari of failing to be the guardian of the country. “Though she is the president, she hasn’t been able to rise above partisan interests. Her act of making fun of our party President Sher Bahadur Deuba has pretty much borne this out ,” she said.

NC leader Arju Rana also accused the government of wallowing in corruption. “They call themselves messiahs of the proletariat, but they are enjoying with the amounts paid as tax by the people,” said Rana.

NC had started its second phase of nationwide awareness drive from September 10 to inform people about the government’s weaknesses.
