Government seizing civil rights, says NC leader Sitaula
Jhapa, July 13
Nepali Congress leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula today accused the government of seizing the civil rights guaranteed by the constitution to the people.
Talking to mediapersons at the party office in Jhapa’s Birtamod, Sitaula charged that KP Oli-led government was seizing fundamental rights of citizens. “The government’s indifference to the demands raised by Dr Govinda KC, who has been on hunger strike in Jumla since June 30, is evidence that the government is hell-bent on seizing people’s rights,” Sitaula said.
NC leader Sitaula said the media should play an important role of a watchdog and prevent the government from seizing the
rights granted to the people by the constitution. He reiterated that time had come for the people to be cautious about the government’s undemocratic steps. He said talking of prosperity by seizing people’s rights was nonsense.
In another context, Sitaula said his party would solve minor problems that had surfaced in the party through dialogue.
He informed that Nepali Congress would launch Mechi-Mahakali campaign shortly to make people aware of the incumbent government’s undemocratic moves.
