‘Government staffers want big cities’

Rajbiraj, September 7

Chief District Officer of Saptari, Baldev Gautam, today said many government posts were still lying vacant in the district due to more and more civil servants opting for developed and large cities.

Speaking at a programme organised on the occasion of Civil Servants’ Day in Rajbiraj, CDO Gautam said he had repeatedly informed the concerned ministry about filling vacant posts in different offices of the district.

When asked about the post of medical doctors lying vacant at Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital, Rajbiraj, CDO Gautam held that doctors did not want to be deployed in Saptari as it was less lucrative for them. “Doctors choose big cities as they can work at private hospitals and clinics after their duty is over at government hospitals,” CDO Gautam added.

He said his office was monitoring development projects in the district.

CDO Gautam said information related to public concerns should be publicised in order to end the grievances of corruption and lack of transparency.
