KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 12
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has directed the Centre for Education and Human Resource Development to collect nationwide details of land owned by community schools and learning centres, including their utilisation status and any related disputes.
Education Minister Mahabir Pun said the move follows reports of encroachment and misuse of land belonging to educational institutions across several districts. "We have instructed the Centre to gather factual information to protect and ensure proper use of school and learning centre property," Minister Pun stated.
According to the Ministry, of the 35,447 schools across the country, about 73 percent are community-run institutions. The collected data will help the government address issues of ownership, encroachment, and land management in the education sector.
