KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 7
MetLife, a leading global financial services company, has announced a new three-year partnership with Global Citizen, the world's largest movement to end extreme poverty. The collaboration aims to strengthen economic inclusion, education, and community resilience worldwide.
As part of the initiative, the MetLife Foundation has committed USD 9 million to the newly launched FIFA–Global Citizen Education Fund, which seeks to raise USD 100 million to expand access to quality education and sports programs for children globally.
"At MetLife, we believe in being there for people and communities in the moments that matter," said Michel Khalaf, President and CEO of MetLife. "Our partnership with Global Citizen will drive positive change by promoting financial health, advancing educational opportunities, and fostering strong and confident communities."
The partnership will also see MetLife support major Global Citizen campaigns and events, including the flagship Global Citizen Festival and the Global Citizen NOW summits, which unite artists, activists, and world leaders to address urgent global challenges.
Hugh Evans, Co-Founder and CEO of Global Citizen, described the partnership as a powerful step forward: "This collaboration between MetLife, MetLife Foundation, and Global Citizen will be instrumental in accelerating progress toward a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive."
Since its establishment in 1976, MetLife Foundation has contributed over USD 1 billion toward strengthening communities through programs focused on financial inclusion, education, and economic mobility.
