KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 2

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has stated that the country's economy is improving, and the government intends to develop a master plan to boost the economy.

Speaking at the 25th-anniversary event of the Butwal-based Amda Nepal Siddhartha Children and Women Hospital on Thursday, Prime Minister Dahal shared that there has been significant improvement in the economic sector since his election to the position of premiership.

He also mentioned that the government is exerting all possible efforts to address the economic challenges the country is facing.

He claimed that the interest rates of banks and financial institutions are decreasing due to the government's continuous efforts, and he added, "We are working to lower the interest rates to single digits. The foreign exchange reserves have increased, and both remittances and revenue have also risen."

Prime Minister Dahal further stated that there are ongoing activities to revise the monetary policy and the financial sector, urging industrialists and entrepreneurs not to lose hope.

The government formed under his leadership has placed the social security program in health services as a top priority, emphasizing the government's commitment to citizens' right to health.

PM Dahal shared the information that they have made arrangements for 2,800 beds to provide free health services to the poor, disadvantaged, and vulnerable people. Furthermore, private and community hospitals are encouraged to allocate 10 percent of their total beds for the treatment of the underprivileged.

He praised Amda Nepal's contributions to maternal and child health, stating, "The hospital has played a vital role by offering various facilities to children and women and delivering quality treatment to even remote patients. I believe that the hospital, as a charity hospital and a teaching institute, will be highly beneficial for the local people with low economic status."

Additionally, at the event, former Chief Minister of Lumbini Province and leader of the CPN (UML) Parliamentary Party in the Provincial Assembly, Lila Giri, commended the hospital and called for impartial service.

Speaker of the Lumbini Province Assembly, Tularam Gharti Magar, praised the hospital for being a model facility for children and women in Lumbini Province.

Dr. Shigeru Suganami, President of Amda International, also addressed the gathering, expressing their aim to provide health services to conflict-ridden areas worldwide using the medical professionals trained in the hospital, which they plan to develop into a medical college.
