Grant contract signed with 12,000 quake victims

Some 12,000 earthquake victims have signed housing construction grant in Makawanpur so far. The number, however, is the lowest in comparison to 11 other  quake-hit districts, excluding Lalipur.

As per data with the Ministry for Federal Affairs and Local Development, the contract has been signed with 12,193 beneficiaries in the district so far. Again, of those who have signed the contract, 1,368 persons have received the first instalment of the grant till date.

There are a total of 30,238 families in the district who are entitled to the government-provided house construction grant. The government has so far released around 1.48 billion rupees for the district, meaning 200,000 rupees to each of the victim families.

Makawanpur has also witnessed highest number of complaints of ‘victims’ who have claimed that they were missed out in the list of the beneficiaries of the grant.

The DDC said 162 persons have been deployed in the district in order to carry out contract signing.
