Health awareness campaign launched in Province 1
BIRATNAGAR: An awareness campaign under the slogan 'Responsible for Health, Basis for Prosperity', has been launched in Province 1 from the New Year's Day, today.
The provincial Ministry of Social Development initiated the campaign called 'My Year 2075' as part of Government of Nepal's national programme.
Province 1 Chief Minister (CM) Sherdhan Rai launched the campaign amidst a programme organised here this morning.
The campaign incorporates eight commitments for a healthy life. These commitments include regular physical exercise, taking nutritious and wholesome food, regular health check-up, keeping house and community clean, staying away from alcohol and tobacco, becoming conscious of one's and community's health, living a stress-free life and abiding by traffic rules.
CM Rai, signing on the commitment letter on the occasion, said the country's economic prosperity would be possible only when the citizens were healthy. He said that he himself worked out regularly.
CM Rai said, this is the year for laying the foundation of development and prosperity. He sought the cooperation from all sides for making successful the campaign of ridding the entire country of diseases.
Province Minister for Social Development Jeevan Ghimire said that yoga has also been incorporated in the campaign for a healthy life. Province parliamentarians, government officials, industrialists and businessmen, civil society representatives, and journalists signed on the commitment letter, expressing their commitment to abide by it.
Likewise, an environmental sanitation awareness programme was also organised at the Koshi Zonal Hospital Chok as part of the campaign today.
