Health post buildings in limbo

Bajura, November 29

Even after seven years construction of Kanda health post building in Chadedaha Rural Municipality, Bajura, has not been completed.

Bhim Bahadur Saud from Rajendra Construction Service had signed the contract for construction of the building four years ago. However, the construction work, which started six years ago, was put on the back-burner after Saud got elected as mayor of Parshuram Municipality.

Health workers at the facility said they had been facing problems in treating patients due to lack of building. Assistant Health Worker Narendra Budha said they were compelled to provide delivery service in the open space.

Ward No 1 Chairman Bir Bahadur Rawal of the rural municipality said no one took the initiative to complete the construction work even though they had reminded the authorities concerned time and again.

Similarly, the construction of the building for Dogadi Health Post in Ward No 3 of the same rural municipality is also in a lurch. The same contractor had signed the contract for construction work.

Chief at District Health Office, Bajura, Dr Rupchandra Bishwokarma said the urban development office had paid no attention to the problems.
