HETAUDA, AUGUST 3

Construction of the new building of Hetauda Hospital under Madan Bhandari Institute of Health and Sciences is in its last leg. According to sources, once ready, the facility could be handed over for use within two weeks from now.

Hospital superintendent Dr Ramchandra Sapkota said preparations were on to run emergency service counter and pharmacy from the new building.

"We're eagerly waiting for the handover of the new building and plan to run emergency and other services from there," said Sapkota, adding that the hospital would be upgraded to a 200-bed facility with the addition of the 100-bed capacity new building.

The hospital was originally established as a 15- bed district hospital more than six decades ago. It was upgraded in phases to a 50-bed facility. Though formally a 50-bed hospital, it is operating with another 50 beds under its Hospital Management Committee now. It was brought under MBIHS with a view to improving its condition and service delivery.

Lately, under MBIHS, classes of subjects such as Public Health, Pharmacy and Medical Lab Technology are also being held at the hospital.
