KATHMANDU, JULY 14
A 14-member high-level delegation from Nepal is on an official visit to Israel from July 12 to 18, at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel, to participate in the Muni Expo 2025-a flagship event hosted by the Federation of Local Governments of Israel.
This marks the first time a delegation comprising senior officials from Nepal's Ministry of Urban Development, the National Planning Commission, and municipal mayors is attending the event, which focuses on municipal innovation and urban resilience.
According press release issued by the Embassy of Israel in Kathmandu, the Muni Expo 2025, scheduled for July 15–17 under the theme "Local Compass", brings together municipal leaders and policymakers from around the world. Key discussions this year will center on crisis response, local-national coordination, and combating antisemitism. The Nepali delegation is expected to interact with over 150 Israeli and international companies and startups, gaining insights into cutting-edge urban projects and exploring global partnership opportunities.
As part of the program, the delegation will also visit major institutions and facilities including, Yad Vashem – The World Holocaust Remembrance Center, Shafdan Wastewater Treatment Facility, Municipal Innovation Center, and Jerusalem, Tel Aviv–Jaffa, and Sderot Police Station, the release further noted.
The itinerary also includes a visit to the Nova Festival site, where a Hamas terrorist attack on October 7, 2023, killed hundreds, including 10 Nepali nationals in Kibbutz Alumim. The visit aims to honor the victims and raise awareness about ongoing hostage situations, including that of Bipin Joshi.
According to the Embassy of Israel, the visit is a milestone in Nepal-Israel relations, especially in fostering collaboration on sustainable urban development, capacity building, and municipal innovation. The Embassy expressed confidence in the potential for continued cooperation across various sectors for the mutual benefit of both nations.
