KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 15

A high-level delegation from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation headed by Ambassador Patricia Danzi, also the Director General of the SDC, along with the head of South Asia Barbara Böni is paying an official visit to Nepal.

The delegation's four-day visit will focus on Swiss development cooperation in Nepal and its vision of shaping the collaboration between Switzerland and Nepal in the future, according to a press release issued by the Swiss Embassy.

SDC Director General Patricia Danzi will get a firsthand impression of the Swiss development cooperation in Nepal through a field visit to Province 1 by observing Swiss-supported projects such as Technical Vocational and Education Training, migration, market system development, small irrigation and trail and motorable bridges as well as a COVID-19 response project.

Furthermore, the director general will meet the foreign minister, chief minister of Province 1, mayor and deputy mayor of Bhojpur Municipality and other stakeholders.

For the coming years, Switzerland's focus will be directed at supporting Nepal's continued progress in poverty reduction and economic development by supporting the three levels of government as per their constitutional mandate.

Switzerland supports small and medium enterprises in Nepal so as to expand markets in the course of creating conditions for job and income source through access to enhanced skills and market opportunities.

Switzerland has a long-standing development cooperation with Nepal, while also engaging consistently through Nepal's various political transitions.

Switzerland has been successful in pioneering through trail bridges, roads and motorable bridges, improving natural resource through promoting community forests, supporting safer migration, transitional justice process as well as the implementation of the Constitution of Nepal, while social inclusion continues to be the core aspect of Swiss intervention.
