Hospital tense over patient’s death in Jhapa

Jhapa, March 7

B and C Hospital and Research Centre remained tense throughout the day today after a patient died while undergoing treatment in Birtamode, Jhapa.

Subash Upreti, 21, of Duwagadi VDC had died at the hospital yesterday night. Following the tension, an-all party meeting held today formed a 14-member probe committee, led by Chairman of Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Birtamode chapter, to look into the incident.

The probe committee comprises representatives from the hospital management, locals, family of the deceased and students.

Upreti was a BBS third year student at Tridev Campus in Charali. The committee has been given three days to investigate and reveal the report.

The body was handed over to the family of the deceased today.

Uprety’s kin have charged that he died due to faulty vaccination. He was admitted to the hospital after minor vomiting. The kin of the deceased staged a protest rally on the premises of the hospital alleging negligence on the part of doctors.

The hospital suffered minor damage due to the agitation.
