Earthquake victims in Khotang face complications in withdraw the housing grant offered by the government due to technical problems. The deposits in the bank have been made in another name, instead of the victims’ names. The ames are of those deceased or who are out of the country.

Grant amount of Rs 50,000 per family was distributed for reconstruction of houses in the district in the first instalment.

Focal Person in the District Coordination Office Rabi Kiran Acharya said recommendation to rectify the name list of the victims has begun. “We have begun to recommend name list correction to the authority after recommendation of the ward office,” he added. Acharya added that the victims would get the amount after the names were rectified by the authority concerned.

The agreement signed between the victims and National Reconstruction Authority sees the amount deposited in the victims’ bank accounts. The amount can be withdrawn after the victim reaches the bank with supportive documents.
