Sick girl’s father seeks help
CHAUTARA:
Ram Bahadur Tamang of Ganrati, Pipaldanda VDC-8, Sindhupalchok, is seeking financial help for the treatment of his 12-year-old daughter, Tirtha Maya, who has a heart problem. Tirtha Maya is a student of class III in Siddha Primary School. Doctors at the Ganga Lal Heart Centre, Kathmandu, have told Tamang that the operation would cost Rs 3,00,000. Tamang says his plea for help have gone in vain so far. Says Charchi, the girl’s mother, “We don’t have any property save a small plot of land”. — HNS
Cases against govt officials
KATHMANDU:
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Friday filed two fake certificate cases at the Special Court against official of the Nepal Telecom Authority, Laxmidas Sharma, and official of the Nepal Bank Limited, Gopal Singh Deuba. The CIAA charged them of getting appointment of the government jobs by producing fake certificates from the Bhupendra Narayan Mandal University of Bihar, India, and Secondary Education Board, Uttar Pradesh, also in India, respectively. — RSS
Hospital land encroached
BHARATPUR:
The owners of private shops, houses and a petrol pump have encroached upon a part of the land belonging to the Lumbini Zonal Hospital, Butwal, a hospital source said. Of the total of eight bigas and nine dhur of land, only seven bigas is left, according to the hospital source. — RSS
Yagna for peace, welfare
BUTWAL:
Wishing for peace, goodwill and human welfare, a srimadbhagwat mahayagna began here on Thursday. The mahayagya, which also aims at collecting fund for first-aid health services to orphans, elders, monks, tramps and general public, will conclude on Wednesday. Inaugurating the mahayagna, chief judge of the Butwal Appellate Court, Rajendra Prasad Koirala, highlighted the role of religious institutions in promoting awareness among people for peace and order. — RSS
Woman commits suicide
BHAKTAPUR:
Twenty-eight-year-old Kamala Khatri of Chhaling VDC-4, Thapagaun, Bhaktapur district, committed suicide by consuming poison. According to the police, she died while she was being rushed to a hospital for treatment. The police are probing the case. — RSS
Man found dead
KATHMANDU:
Hira Bahadur Rai, 25, of Deuga VDC, Solokhumbu, has apparently committed suicide. He had been working as a cook at the Baglung guest house at Gongabu. He was found dead in the
bathroom on the fourth floor of the guest house with a scarf tied tight round his neck. Police have started an investigation into the case. — RSS
Man stabbed
KATHMANDU:
Rajendra Karki, a 30-year-old resident of Balaju, was injured after he was stabbed on Wednesday. Madan Kapali, a resident of Jyatha, is believed to have stabbed Karki at around 7:15 pm. Karki was rushed to the hospital, where he is said to be in a critical condition. Police have arrested the 22-year-old Kapali. An investigation is on, police said. — RSS
