India ready to help Nepal: Mukherjee

Pokhara, June 13 :

Indian envoy to Nepal, Shiva Shanker Mukherjee, today said India is ready to help for development of Nepal and also welfare of the Indian Ex-Gurkha army.

He said this while addressing a meeting with the Indian Ex-Gurkha army. The meeting was organised by the Indian Pension Camp Pokhara.

Stating that there are over 60,000 Indian Ex-Gurkha armymen in the western region alone, he said the Indian Embassy is distributing pensions by setting up camps at convenient places across the country. He said people have achieved their rights with the dawn of democracy and added that India will support democracy.

Meanwhile, ambassador Mukherjee laid the foundation stone of Gupteshwor Multiple Campus in Parvat district headquarters Kushma to be built with Indian assistance. Speaking on the occasion, he said India always supports the development of Nepal and is ready to extend necessary cooperation.

Stating that Nepal’s development and security are at the hands of the Nepalis themselves, he said democracy and rights achieved from the people’s movement need to be safeguarded.

India provided Rs 12.5 million for construction of a modern campus building. In addition, India has agreed to provide books, computers and other equipment for library.
