KATHMANDU, JULY 2
The foundation stone for a new school building at Shree Jan Adarsha Secondary School in Shivasatakshi Municipality-6, Jhapa, was laid on Tuesday under a project funded by the Government of India.
The ceremony was jointly attended by Koshi Provincial Assembly member Radha Krishna Khanal, Shivasatakshi Municipality Mayor Meghahang Thopra, and Garima Nautiyal, Second Secretary at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu.
The school building will be constructed with Indian financial assistance of approximately Rs 30 million under the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) programme. The project will be implemented through Shivasatakshi Municipality.
According to the Indian Embassy, the new infrastructure is expected to improve the learning environment for students and teachers in the municipality.
Local representatives welcomed the project and expressed confidence that the new facility would strengthen educational infrastructure in the area.
The Embassy said the project reflects the ongoing development cooperation between Nepal and India, particularly in priority sectors such as education and community infrastructure.
