BHOJPUR: Police said an Indian national has been arrested on the charge of attempting to rape a woman in Sankhuwasabha district, on Sunday.

According to the District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha, 39-year-old Saifukul Miya of Namuniya in Malda District of West Bengal, India, currently residing in Madi Municipality-4 in the district attempted to rape a 35-year-old woman in the area yesterday.

Police said, "Miya, who earns his living by collecting garbages, allegedly raped the woman walking nearby her house in the morning."

Subsequently, a police team deployed from the nearby Madi Area Police Post apprehended the rape accused on the same day.

Meanwhile, further investigation is underway, police said.
