Indian national held with marijuana in Nawalparasi
NAWALPARASI: Police on Saturday arrested an Indian national and seized three kg marijuana.
SP Prem Raj Pokharel of the Armed Police Force Border Security Office said Ramdev Kewat from Sinduria of Maharajgang in Uttar Pradesh of India was nabbed with 1.5 kg marijuana from the Belaspur Check Post.
Acting on Kewat's information, police seized additional 1.5 kg weed from a hut in Ramnagar-9 of Nawalparasi district later, Pokharel added.
Police said the hut was being used as a weed transaction centre by Kewat.
The law enforcement personnel had stopped Kewat while he was crossing the border on a jeep.
The Indian national, meanwhile, told police that he was transacting the illegal drug with a Nepali man named Bhola. The detainee also informed police that he would visit the hut every Saturday.
He, however, maintained that he was not the main smuggler, but just a porter employed to transport the drug for IRs 2,000 per kg.
The APF said he would be handed over to the District Police Office for further investigation and action.
