KATHMANDU, JANUARY 15

Spokesperson for the Embassy of India in Nepal Naveen Kumar has said that the Government of India's position on the India-Nepal boundary is well-known, consistent, and unambiguous.

In response to media queries regarding recent reports and statements in Nepal on the issue of India-Nepal boundary, the spokesperson said India's position on the India-Nepal boundary had been communicated to the Government of Nepal.

The spokesperson further said, "It is our view that the established inter-governmental mechanisms and channels are most appropriate for communication and dialogue. Mutually agreed boundary issues that are outstanding can always be addressed in the spirit of our close and friendly bilateral relations."

Indian embassy's clarification came in the backdrop of Nepali political parties opposing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent statement that the Government of India was building road in Lipulekh area.

Nepal has amended its constitution to include Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura in Nepal's political map. India has political and administrative control over Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura.
