International photo competition on Nepal kicks off in China

KATHMANDU: The first of its kind, ‘International Photography Competition on Nepal’ has kicked off at Chengdu of China with an aim to promote tourism in Nepal.

The six-day photo exhibition is being held at Wide Narrow Ale – a tourism hub in China – to mark the first anniversary of the establishment of sisterly relations between Kathmandu Metropolis and Chengdu city.

At least 600,000 Chinese and foreign tourists were expected to visit the photo exhibition.

Photos related to tradition, tourism and art and culture of Nepal have been put on display in the event.

Inaugurating the competition, Ambassador of Nepal to China Leelamani Paudyal expressed his confidence that the photo exhibition would serve as a milestone for tourism promotion.

Paudyal also expressed gratefulness to the Chengdu City, Sichuan Province and Chinese government for their support in promoting Nepal in international arena.

Nepal Tourism Board's media expert Sharad Pradhan hoped that the event would be substantial in attracting more tourists to Nepal.
