KATHMANDU, JUNE 24
The Government of Japan has handed over medical equipment to Bayalpata Hospital in Achham to support trauma care and orthopedic surgery services.
A formal handover ceremony was held on June 24 in Sanfebagar Municipality, Achham, with Tamura Takahiro, Charge d'Affaires ad interim of Japan to Nepal, in attendance.
The assistance, provided under Japan's Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), amounts to USD 66,263 (approximately Rs 8.9 million). The support includes the installation of essential medical equipment aimed at improving healthcare access in the rural districts of Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces.
Operated by the NGO Nyaya Health Nepal in partnership with provincial and local governments, Bayalpata Hospital serves as a core medical facility for Achham, Bajura, Doti, Kalikot, and Dailekh districts.
Tamura expressed his appreciation to all those involved in the project and their efforts in working for the completion of the project. The Embassy hopes that this support will improve the medical environment, promote access to quality health care in rural areas of the country, and further strengthen the friendship between the peoples of Japan and Nepal.
Since its inception in 1991, the GGP program has supported over 200 grassroots-level projects in Nepal, contributing to the country's socio-economic development.
