KATHMANDU, MAY 14

An American woman climber has become the first ovarian cancer survivor to stand atop the roof of the world this morning.

​​​According to Mingma Gyalje Sherpa, Managing Director at Imagine Nepal Treks, American climber Jessica Rae Wedel scaled Mt Everest to raise awareness about ovarian cancer.

The Oklahoma-based climber also becomes the first ovarian cancer survivor to summit Everest. Jessica along with Mingma Sherpa (Ang Mingma) stood atop the summit at around 8:38am , Sherpa shared.

Jessica has also attempted to scale Everest in 2021 but COVID outbreak among the Sherpa climbers kept her from making an attempt.
