Kalapani dispute

KATHMANDU: International Relations Committee of the House of Representatives on Friday issued a directive to the government to find a negotiated settlement with India to reclaim the Kalapani area comprising Limpiyadhura, Lipulek and Kalapani from India.

Recently, India published its political map depicting the Kalapani area as its territory. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had also issued a press release stating that there is no doubt that the Kalapani area is an integral part of Nepal.

The HoR committee has directed the government to hold diplomatic and political talks with India to ensure that Indian security forces withdraw from Limpiyadhura, Lipulek and Kalapani. The panel also urged the government to issue a new map depicting Limpiyadhura, Lipulek, Kalapani and Susta as Nepal’s territory. It urged the government to build roads and other infrastructure to facilitate transport in the Kalapani area.
