KATHMANDU, AUGUST 9

Vehicular movement along the Kaligandaki Corridor, which had been blocked since Friday evening due to a landslide, resumed this morning.

According to the District Police Office, Baglung, the corridor was completely obstructed at around 7 p.m. on Friday when a landslide occurred along the road at Kalakhola in Baglung Municipality-12.

Police Inspector Keshav Thapa reported that the route was reopened at around 10 a.m. today after debris was cleared using heavy machinery. The landslide had cut off the southern part of Baglung district, affecting travel along the corridor, one of Nepal's national pride projects.

With the road now open, vehicles bound for Mustang, Butwal, Bhairahawa, Sunauli, and other destinations have resumed their journeys, Inspector Thapa said.

He added that efforts were made to clear the road last night, but heavy rainfall and recurring landslides hindered the work. The debris was finally removed this morning, allowing stranded passengers to continue toward their destinations.
