Kanchanpur firing victim's postmortem carried out

DHANGADHI: Postmortem on the body of Govinda Gautam, who was killed in an alleged firing by the Indian border security personnelĀ on the Nepali side in Punarbas of Kanchanpur district, has been carried out on Saturday.

The autopsy was carried out at the Seti Zonal Hospital in Dhangadhi of adjacent Kailali district.

It is noteworthy that India has asked Nepal to provide it with reports of postmortem and other forensic examinations for an investigation into the case.

Earlier, the victim's kith and kin had refused to collect the body and conduct the postmortem demanding that the government declared him a martyr and provide due compensation to the bereaved family.

The government declared him a martyr yesterday.
