KJWP to collect hefty sum from VDCs

KHOTANG: The Kirant Janabadi Workers’ Party has threatened that it would collect Rs 2 lakhs from each VDC in Khotang.

Issuing a press release on Sunday, the party claimed that the news made public earlier saying the party would not collect donation was wrong. The press release adds, “Our party just urged not to give donation in the name of party to unauthorised persons.” The statement signed by district in-charge Samrat has urged the government to control violence and cases of robbery and theft in the country. The party added that it would not obstruct any project implemented by Swiss Development Cooperation in the district. Earlier, the party had called all the employees of SDC to the district headquarters, halting all SDC work until it provided them with donation. Talks between the party and SDC were held in the district on the initiative of INSEC on February 24 and 25. The party made a six-point commitment to let SDC function. It requires SDC to make its activities in line with human rights, transparent and accountable and letting SDC implement its projects. The commitment paper is signed by Adim Kiranti of the party, local Peace Committee Coordinator Bishnu Kumar Rai, Loknath Ghimire and Rajan Rai of INSEC.
