KOICA begins health recovery project in Nuwakot
KATHMANDU: The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), in coordination with Nuwakot-based District Health Office and United Nations Development Programme, organised laid the foundation stone for the Nuwakot Health Reconstruction and Recovery Programme on Wednesday.
Korean Ambassador to Nepal Choe Yong-jin and Chief District Officer Bishnu Prasad Pokhrel jointly performed the ground breaking ceremony of the health post construction site at Belkot VDC of the district.
The project covers the construction of the Nuwakot District Hospital in Bidur and ten health posts in different VDCs of Nuwakot district.
A brief interaction programme was also organised with local beneficiaries and high level officials including KOICA Country Director Hyungkyoo Kim, UNDP's Deputy Country Director Sophie Kemkahadze and Nuwakot Local Development Officer Narayan Prasad Risal among others.
KOICA in a statement said it expected fast and timely implementation of the reconstruction activities in Nuwakot district through the joint collaboration of donors, implementing partners, government agencies and local beneficiaries.
In the ceremony Wednesday, the local beneficiaries were informed about the user friendliness, fire resistant quality and durability of the construction materials by displaying the material in the site and verbal explanation.
Apart from the post-disaster reconstruction programme in Nuwakot, KOICA has been supporting the Government of Nepal in the area of health, education and agriculture and capacity building of human resources.
