'Koirala committed to Sino-Nepal ties'

Kathmandu, February 9

China has extended condolence and sympathy on the sudden demise of former prime minister and Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala.

Sending a letter of condolence and sympathy to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said the Chinese side was sad to learn the unfortunate news of the passing away of Sushil Koirala and expressed condolence over his death.

“Sushil Koirala was a prominent political leader of Nepal, who was committed to developing good Chinese-Nepali relationship of cooperation and friendship,” Wang Yi was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu.

The Chinese side also sent a message of sympathy to the family members of Sushil Koirala and the people of Nepal at this time.

Chinese Ambassador Wu Chuntai today went to the headquarters of Nepali Congress Party to pay tribute to Koirala.
