KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 5
The District Court in Kaski has granted permission to hold Rabi Lamichhane, President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, in police custody for an additional ten days to continue investigations into his alleged involvement in the misappropriation of cooperative funds.
Lamichhane was initially arrested on October 18 on charges related to these alleged financial irregularities.
This is the third extension of his custody, which began on October 31, according to court information officer Suraj Adhikari. Although his previous custody term expired on October 30, he was presented before the court on Tuesday, as it reopened following the Tihar festival holidays.
A bench led by Judge Chandrakanta Paudel ordered the extension in relation to Lamichhane's case. His first court appearance occurred on October 20.
